Why be energy efficient?
The foundry industry is one of Australia’s most energy-intensive sectors. Energy usage comprises a significant percentage of a foundry’s total operational cost (depending on business size and type of process, between 5–15%). Energy efficiency improvements are increasingly becoming important to the future competitiveness of the industry nationally.
