The Mushroom Exchange processing plant reduced its refrigeration energy usage by 35%, by replacing old inefficient compressors, improving temperature control and maximising the efficiency of the refrigeration system.

Pulp and Paper Industry Energy Bandwidth Study

This study developed for the US Department of Energy’s Industrial Technologies Program analyses how much energy could be saved if more efficient types of pulp and paper manufacturing technologies and best practices were employed. Bandwidth analysis seeks to quantify the differences between current energy consumption levels, state of the art energy use and practical and theoretical minimums at a process level.

Virgin Airlines: Aviation in a Low Carbon World

Virgin Airlines is implementing a broad range of fuel efficiency initiatives, as well as investing in an alternative fuels strategy and supporting technological step changes.

1200 Buildings Program - Financing building retrofits

The 1200 Buildings Program is a City of Melbourne initiative which seeks to catalyse the environmental retrofit of 1200 non-residential buildings or 70% of the commercial building stock within the city. A range of case studies have been developed profiling a range of buildings which have been upgraded as part of the program.

Council House 2 - Melbourne City Council

This case study profiles CH2, a 6 star building which features shower towers, phase change materials and chilled ceiling panels as the energy efficient radiant cooling system. In the summer, the building is naturally cooled at night by purging air. Windows on the north and south facades open to allow air to flow in and out. This reduces air conditioning energy demands by 20%.

    Murray Goulburn Co-operative Koroit Plant

Murray Goulburn reduced pump system running costs by 42% for one of their separator banks, with a 3.2 year payback period on the dollars invested. This also reduced piping system component wear by reducing friction losses throughout the system.

Climate Energy Efficiency Case Study: Futuris Automotive

Futuris provides seating and interior trim on a just in time basis to Ford Australia. At their Cambellfield site between 2008 and 2009 they more than halved their average energy intensity. This case study outlines an energy efficiency demonstration project that set out to identify further cost effective energy efficiency opportunities.

    Murray Goulburn Rochester Dairy Processors

Through the Energy Efficiency Best Practice program, Murray Goulburn Rochester Dairy Processors identified several ways to improve energy efficiency in boilers and steam systems in their plants.
