Cookies are pieces of information that a website can transfer to an individual’s computer. These can be used to help personalise a website, manage visitor sessions or collect website use data. We use cookies to set accessibility preferences and to help collect website use and traffic data. You can change your web browser settings to reject cookies or to prompt you each time a website wishes to add a cookie to your browser.

Clickstream data

We make a record of your visit and log the following information for statistical purposes: your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the date and time of your visit to the site, the web pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited, and your web browser and operating system.

We use a spam filtering tool created by Automattic Inc called Akismet to check that communications with us, such as online feedback forms, subscriptions to our newsletter and messages, do not contain spam-like features. Your communications with us including your online feedback form, IP address, name and email address (if provided) will be transmitted to the United States of America (USA). Your information will not be stored on Akismet’s servers unless Akismet falsely identifies your message as spam. In this instance, Akismet will only store your message long enough to use it to improve the service to avoid future false positives. By using this website you consent to the processing of data about you by Automattic Inc in the manner described in their Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics

In addition to web server logs, the EEX website also uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (‘Google’). Reports obtained from Google Analytics are used to help improve the EEX website.

Google Analytics uses ‘cookies’ to help analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the USA. We have implemented Google Analytics using the Anonymise IP option which provides Google with only part of your IP address.

Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not receive your complete IP address, and cannot associate your activity at EEX with any other information they may hold about you.

Google and Akismet are located in the USA and relevant legislation of the USA will apply. Accordingly, Australian Privacy Principle 8.1 contained in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) (Cth) will not apply. Google Analytics and Akismet are not subject to the Privacy Act and you will not be able to seek redress under the Privacy Act but will need to seek redress under the laws of the USA. You can opt out of Google Analytics if you disable or refuse the cookie, disable JavaScript, or use the opt-out service provided by Google.

By using the EEX website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google and Akismet in the manner and for the purposes set out above. Please refer to Google’s Privacy policy for further information.
