Buildings consume a third of the world’s energy and are responsible for a fifth of global emissions. Without action, these levels could double or even triple by 2050.

However, the growing international trend for green buildings is powering positive change—reducing energy use and emissions, saving water, reducing waste and providing a healthier built environment for people.

World Green Building Week takes place from 21 to 27 September to acknowledge the contribution green buildings are making towards greater sustainability, and to share the story of how the industry is improving its energy efficiency around the globe.

Supporters of World Green Building Week are highlighting the increasing role buildings can—and are—playing in strengthening a sustainable future.

See the World Green Building Week website for more information on the initiative. Several World Green Building Week events are being presented around Australia.
