Global portal for building energy codes
The international Building Energy Codes Portal is now online. The portal enables more efficient international exchange of experiences and best practices in the implementation of building energy codes.
With effective codes, buildings can deliver energy services to tenants and businesses using a fraction of the energy often used today. Jobs and markets are being created in line with innovations in energy saving technologies. Pollution in cities, including heat-trapping greenhouse gas emissions, can be mitigated, improving public health and fostering prosperity.
The portal is a joint initiate of the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), the Global Building Performance Network (GBPN) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).
The Building Energy Codes Portal supports the building energy work streams of the G20 Energy Efficiency Action Plan and the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, a high-level international forum dedicated to reducing emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases. The development of the web portal was coordinated by the IPEEC Building Energy Efficiency Taskgroup (BEET), PNNL and GBPN, and benefitted from the participation of government representatives from major economies as well as non-governmental building energy experts.

Building energy experts will discuss key findings from the portal’s code implementation summaries in international webinars on October 22 and November 12. Further details on the webinars will be provided in advance at the Clean Energy Solutions Center.
