Corporations participating in the government’s Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) program (now closed) were required to publish annual reports including information on the energy efficiency opportunities they had identified. A database of this information, the EEO Opportunities Register, is now available on EEX.

This register compiles around 1800 opportunities reported for the financial years 2010–11, 2011–12 and 2012–13 as identified by Australia’s largest energy users. The opportunities cover a range of sectors and technologies, and were reported at various stages of investigation and implementation.

This information was previously available in Excel spreadsheets for individual sectors on the EEO website and has now been fully transferred to the EEX website. With all of the data now gathered into one resource, the register is easier to use,  fully searchable and can be filtered by sector, opportunity type and payback period. Key data is provided for each opportunity as it was reported by corporations, including annual savings in dollars and GJ, payback period and whether the opportunity was implemented.

Although the EEO program closed in June 2014, the register will be a valuable resource for those who participated in the program as well as others considering their energy efficiency options.
